Tehran

I’m back in Oxford. Sorry about not posting for a while and also for not replying to your comments. I had some difficulties accessing the internet.
I’ve got lots of pictures left from Tehran which I’m going to post in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for all the comments and support.

Wow! I miss the mountains.

Striking scene. The chalk white mountain is dazzling. Iis it snow or white rock?

And good to see you posting again. Free! Stay that way.

That's in Tehran? Pretty green. I thought Iran was a big desert. Very nice picture in any case

I was going to comment asking you to get a pic of the mountains! Like others it wasn't until I watched the Channel 4 news special from Tehran last month by John Snow on TV that I realised Tehran wasn't a desert city.

Great pic. Is that a giant mobile phone on the building?!

your photographs from tehran are amazing. just as a curiousity, did you come across any problem taking photographs in public?
Maziar | May 9, 2006 2:13AM
Huh, just realized the hills behind Rancho Santa Margarita here in California where i moved so that I can have a scene close to what I had in Tehran doesn't even come close to this!

What's up with the cell phone?!

Thanks for all the comments.

Yes Hugh, this is real snow.

That’s what’s so special about Tehran Jeliel and Marie; 4 seasons, hot summers and cold winters, 2 hours drive to the north and you can go skiing up to 4 months a year, another 3 hours and you can go to the Caspian Sea and only 2 hours drive to the south and you are right in the middle of the dessert. Shame about the traffic and air pollution.

I had no problem taking photographs in public Armeen. They only asked me once not to take any pictures in a mosque other than that people where really friendly and most of them loved to be in the picture. I think as long as you respect the ‘do not take any pictures’ sign you won’t be in trouble. Saying that, I just remembered that once I asked this Dervish guy with long hair and a big beard if I could take his photograph, he asked me what the photo was for and when I said for the internet, he said ‘Sorry but I don’t want that Mrs Rice to go and look at my picture.’ ‘Fair enough’ I said and went off to find another Dervish to take pictures of ;-)

The giant phone is a cell phone advert Maziar. Advertising has become very big in Tehran. You will be surprised to see the amount of giant advertising billboards and other forms of advertising for foreign and Iranian products.

That is such a beautiful city. I had no idea Tehran looked like that.
