Reed Tian | July 17, 2006 4:09AM Dear kamyer,i have viewed every photo of archive last week, because i really like the pictures took by you.I guess you like warm tone of color.i have a question.you shot many people in the street, but i will feel embarrassed if people find i am shotting them stealthily. But you do it very well.can you give me some tips about street photography?thank you
Kamyar| July 17, 2006 3:52PM Reed, most of the time I have my camera ready and try to take the shot as quickly as possible. If the subject sees me, I just pretend that I was taking a picture of the building behind him and sometimes I adjust the camera and shoot while the camera is hanging from my neck. After doing this for awhile I roughly know if the camera is level or not or if it’s pointed at the right direction. Of course most of the times that I use this technique I have to slightly crop or rotate the picture. And sometimes if I’m lucky the person is really friendly and approachable or they even ask you to take their picture like most of the pictures I took in Tehran. I must admit that it can be very nerve racking and I’ve seen a few angry and suspicious eyes looking at me after I’ve taken the shot.
Reed Tian | July 18, 2006 2:05AM Thanks a lot,Kamyar.I used this pretending skill before, and it's useful,i think i will try to do better later.I am chinese and in china, people don't like to be took pictures by strangers.so i feel you are lucky when you took pictures in Tehran.
