themessenger | January 10, 2009 2:00PM In some way this street person seems farther away from the reality of what's inside the shops here in Britain than similar street persons seem in your Iranian images. Which is to say; the spread between what is viewed as poor and wealthy 'seems' less in Iran. Either case is a hard thing to consider.

Is "what is inside the shops" the true "reality". It seems to me the man on the street has enough reality with which to deal. "What is inside the shops" is just advertising copy, whether printed or hung on a headless manequin; just sales propeganda. There is an interesting perspctive in your point-of-view, Messenger.

Surely the reality of the street person is deeper than what's in the shop. He appears to be trying to sell an LP record, which is surely a low side of desperation, but at least makes an offer beyond straight begging - an attempt to retain some sense od dignity. I do find it pathetic that we have so many street people in the midst of what once was wealth. The wealth is wearing thin these days. Kam's shot catches a powerful thought. A sort of theater of the absurd.
